This month’s employee spotlight is another one of our longest standing employees and someone every person who works for Applied Training Solutions talks to- our Human Resources Director, Rick Taylor!
Rick wanted to break away from the template we use slightly and provided us with his own unique insights after 10 years here at the company.
“As one of the only people who has interacted with almost every person who has ever worked with ATS, there isn’t a lot for folks to learn about me. What you get when we talk, is pretty much me. I want to reflect on a decade of service to the ATS family.”
As one of the few “squids” at ATS, Rick enlisted in the Navy as an Aerographer’s Mate, advancing to an H-46 Naval Aviator ending as an AIROPS and Bridge Officer on the Enterprise 15 years later.
After the Navy, he spent time in Hollywood hiring, scheduling and managing personnel for an entertainment company (which he says was his entry into HR) on events like the Oscars’ Governors Ball and the opening of Cirque du Soleil IRIS, along with countless movie premieres at the Grauman’s Chinese Theater, events and parties. It was here when Rick first met Jason and he was offered the opportunity to work with ATS.
In his decade of service with ATS, he says he has seen dear friends come and go. Fortunately, many of them are still with us. Our employees are dedicated to the mission of service. Many have already spent a career of protecting our country in the military and came to us to continue that calling. “Each of you are now a part of a family started 15 years ago by Bill Bewley. He, and Jason, decided to bring in a new, unknown, person in the early days and as I continue to fulfill my duties as HR Director, serving our employees; I am so proud of our accomplishments providing services to our military, federal, state and civilian agencies. I do hope I have had a small role in establishing a culture of family and trust within ATS.”
One thing Rick would like to impart to his fellow employees of ATS would be “Remember, we may have differences. We may disagree. We may even come to impasses- but, we are still in this together. We still hold true to our dedication to service.”
And of course, like any graduate, his favorite song is the Navy Blue and Gold, to “sing second” in December!
“I can only do what I do for the employees of ATS with the help others, and I am appreciative of the entire Admin Team. Without them, I wouldn’t be here today. Brian, Brendon and Jordan round out the team. We are Family, we are ATS!”
