ATS Supports Region III Training Exercise

Last Week, ATS supported an exercise that tested staff level officer’s and NCO’s potential response to chemical, biological, and nuclear attacks within FEMA Region III and prepare the Region III (PA) HRF for their upcoming External Evaluation in October 2023.

The Simulation Cell was in Saint Albans, WV while the training audience and Simulation Controller were in Fort Indiantown Gap, PA. The exercise provided participants with an opportunity to review response and recovery protocols, plans and capabilities and to realistically assess their overall preparedness in the event of Chemical, Biological and or nuclear attack, consistent with real world situations in 2023. It also allowed the Region III (PA) HRF to review orders and requirements from civil authorities to plan a rapid and focused NG response to mitigate human suffering and the loss of life.

The scenarios were based around multiple attacks with multiple hazards (radiation and nerve agents) based in Region II FEMA region which covers a portion of the Northeastern part of United States over two days. The client was to respond to multiple contaminants with search and extraction, detection, decontamination, and casualty and fatality assistance.

The Region III (PA) HRF and supporting elements successfully refined their processes and identified areas requiring additional training in the months leading up to their External Evaluation in October 2023.
As a leader in emergency preparedness training and readiness, ATS continues to actively work to deliver innovative, experience-based disaster-preparedness exercises solutions for local, state, and federal agencies to protect communities. Preparation for disasters helps reduce panic and possible loss of life. Utilizing Simulation helps these units prepare for managing multiple units during a real-life event.
